1-We do not consider criticism of Natalie Portman out of bounds. We acknowledge her right to be human. However, threads created with no more thought put into them than "Natalie is a bitch," will be regarded as worthless and inflammatory. On the other hand, if you post a negative thread directed at Natalie, and proceed to explain your dislike or criticism of her, that thread will certainly be allowed (although the title may be edited if it contains profanity). Also, please refrain from posting slanderous rumors. It's okay to report a factual controversy, but purposefully spreading lies--joke or not--is frowned upon.
2-Before starting a new thread, please make an effort to see if a similar thread discussing the same topic already exists. Threads get bumped off the front page fairly quickly, but chances are, if you check back through a couple of pages, you'll find that there has already been a thread created on the same subject. And make sure the topic title clearly reflects what the thread is about; an accurate and descriptive topic title helps reduce the number of duplicate threads, as it makes it easier to see what subjects are already being discussed.
3-Please try to post topics that might be of general interest to other members of the AQMB.
4- Please refrain from flame-baiting. The term "flame-baiting" refers to those posts whose sole intent is to aggravate or incite other members. We know that hostilities are inevitable from time to time, but deliberately choosing to aggravate other members is not in keeping with the spirit of this message board. If you disagree with something someone says, please construct your arguments as politely as possible. Post with respect! This does not mean, of course, that you have to agree with everyone and only say positive things, just be respectful to your fellow posters. We don't expect everyone to get along all the time, but it won't hurt to keep the following rule in mind: attack the post, not the poster.
5-When posting photos or news items obtained from another web site, please make sure you name the source to ensure that credit is given where it's due. You can do this by posting a link to that site if you know how, or by providing the name and address of the site you obtained the item from.
6-Posting for the sole purpose of advertising your site is considered to be spam. However, we do allow links in the personal signatures of members (with the provision that they are not too obtrusive!).
7-Please choose user names and personal signatures that do not contain profanity or offensive words or phrases.
8-We do not have rules that disallow profanity in posted messages, but as a courtesy to other members please refrain from excessive or flagrant use of offensive language.
9-Lewd, pornographic, or sexually graphic topics will be deleted. However legitimate discussions of mature themes are allowed, and mature topics may be discussed within threads as they naturally occur from time to time.
10-Please post spoiler warnings! Spoilers may be edited by moderators.
FAQs
1- If you have any questions about how to post photos or create links, ask those questions in this thread. Any other ezboard-related questions should also be posted here.
2-If you would like a custom user title, you can post the request in this thread, or you can e-mail one of the administrators. Please make your request verbatim and remember that the lengthier the custom title, the more board space it takes up (in other words, try to keep it relatively short).
AQMB Testimonials:
"the aqmb has always been, generally speaking, a highly-intelligent, philosophically-inclined, debate-craving group of young people...a group which also enjoys looking at the occasional new natalie photo (she is, after all, very beautiful), and every once in a while, using her life and her college/Hollywood experiences as models and/or launching pads for expansive and enlightening discussions on life itself, eventually tapering down to us as individuals." -fygmynt
"I think one of the real strengths of this board is its diversity--it has more female members (i think) than any other board, for example, and posters of all ages and backgrounds." -Euripides Trousers
"New members are the lifeblood of any message board, and we should endeavor to give them the time to find their way in our little community. . . . However, this is a Natalie Portman message board, and an element of silliness always will remain a part of the scenery here." -Bluejay
"There are a lot of good writers on this board, and people who give a lot of thought to what they write. I think that's what makes this Natalie board unique amongst pretty much all fan forums. We have had some pretty interesting discussions 'round here. Long-winded and boring?.... I don't think so. A little reading and brushing up on vocabulary and spelling never hurt anybody--it helps in communicating ideas and learning new things." -Cal
Regarding Natalie.........
"I refuse to wear pink glasses." -Karelle
"I am currently singling her out. Rightfully so. There is purpose to this." -Floothe
"She is young, fresh and beautiful. She embodies all that is great about life when you're young: the promise of the future, the feeling that anything is possible, carefree, cheeky, confident, full of the life force."-Euripides Trousers
"But within all of Natalie's differences and facets, there seems to be something that drew us to her at one point in time, no matter how unusual or common, long or short-lived." -Je Laime
