It's funny, i had this same kind of connection with a guy this summer in Spain... We only knew each other for the last 4 days/nights but we were always together talking etc...
You say u think Lauren is a lesbien, i wasn't luckier than u: he had a girlfriend for 4 years and didn't want to cheat her....that's why u should try to invite her out because u're not sure about her preferences, right? so u have nothing to loose...u still have a chance....
I tried all that i could with this guy but he was incredibly honest.... i've never met a guy so honest before... i even didn't think it could exist... in that, it was a positive experience..

it was strange to be so close of somebody of the opposite sex without dating him (i don't believe in close friendship between a guy and a girl) ...Plus, he was so attractive! his friends couldn't stop to laugh at him because he was always with me, kinda "what are u waiting to date her ?etc...". the last night, we talked until 7am, when it was the moment to leave each other, it took me in his arms and we stayed like that a long time.... but nothing happened, even not a kiss... it was so strange!
Anyway, he was right because it would have been stupid to break a long story for a stuff without future (he lives in Spain, i live in France).....i was very sad during one month, but now, i'm ok, i forgot him;... and we're still friends.... we e-mail each other.... and he's still with his girlfriend! That's life!

Do you mean you don't believe in it for yourself or for anyone? Cause most of my closest friends are girls, and I feel very fortunate that that's the case. I would feel as though I was missing out on something without having friends of both sexes.

I don't think she's a lesbian, karelle, I know she is. Heterosexual women don't say, "The things I want to do to (Demi Moore) are explicit." They don't say that butch dykes (her phrase) that hit on them are "too butch," they'd say, "I'm not into that, I'm not a lesbian."

But I do think she's bi, which is what I'm banking on because I'm just going to go for broke on Wednesday. Unless, of course, something comes up. *sigh* No, even if something comes up, I ain't gonna puss out again. I have the feeling she'd not think any less of me if I were to tell her of my attraction to her. The thing that had always held me back for the longest while was my fear that a girl would actually be pissed if she knew how I felt about her. What the hell is that?! I don't know how that seemed logical to me, but it did. *groan*

bear z, that has to be a finalist for Best Day of the Year, eh? That's so cool that you hit two jackpots unexpectedly. It's occurrences like that which should provide us with hope that as bleak as things may seem, a turn in the right direction can come about suddenly when you need it the most.

I started writing a letter to Lauren at work today, but it sucked, and by that I mean it's boring, which is a crime to me. It's better to just talk to her about what I wanted to cover in the letter.
One of the topics was how I gauge the level of my friendship with others. For instance, if I don't particularly feel close to or interested in somebody, then in a conversation, I don't really listen to them as much as I wait for my turn to speak. On the other hand, if I really dig that person and am interested in hearing what they have to say, I listen to them attentively and don't mind if I don't get a chance to speak at all because listening to them is enjoyable enough.
Also, with people who I'm better friends with (the ones who I'm willing to listen to well), I don't like to be argumentative. It's not that I dislike confrontations or being disagreeable with another (you all should be well aware of that, heh), but with those people, I want to have as harmonious a relationship as possible, and so I go out of my way to not do things that I think might piss them off. If I don't really feel all that close to somebody, though, I'll shoot my mouth off liberally and let the chips fall where they may.

Ah, I've got a day off tomorrow. Too much damn homework though. I think. I'm going to do it regardless, even if I don't have any. To quote Eminem, "That's just the way I am." (Ooh, and Kid A's being released, which kicks all sorts of ass, and I don't need to tell anybody here that.)

No, karelle, I don't have a pic of Lauren, though thanks for reminding me to ask her for one. If you mean one to post, then certainly not. I don't have a scanner nor a camera to take pics for the computer on, and as a result, I don't even have a pic of myself that's any more recent than the last I posted (from 2 years ago), so I don't foresee posting Lauren's pic in the near future.

BTW, from now on, I'm granting free license to everyone to call me simply Rick. I was even contemplating changing my username to that (Simply Rick), but The Sadistic Demon is pretty well established here. But yeah, don't feel the need to address me as the Sadistic Demon. Think of that like a nickname, a moniker given to a person but not used to grab their attention. Kind of like Babe Ruth; of his many nicks, one was "the Sultan of Swat," yet I don't think any of his teammates ever said, "Hey, Sultan, you want a drink?" Y'know what I mean?

Jarvis C, I meant i don't believe in that for myself....i mean, i have guy friends but i'm not close of them like with girls, i don't tell them personnal stuffs etc... i just enjoy being with them, have fun etc.... but that's all....

ok, sometimes, it's my fault because when i'm very close and have a great connection with somebody, even if he's not the most handsome guy in the world, i'm attracted by him.... but it's not always my fault: when i'm not attracted, he is, so.... last year, i had a very good friend in college (he wasn't my type at all, so no problem from me), we were often together etc... but, he began to be strange with me, u know, he wanted to tell me a stuff but never did it, he began to call me every day, but just to talk to me, not for saying something particular... i had nothing to tell him anymore because it wasn't the same relationship that at the beginning....so, i began to spare him.... and it wasn't the only time it happened to me... i think it's possible to have a great friendship with someone if u are not attracted by each other at all....

i felt in love with that guy (i know, after 4 days, it's crazy!)... Falling in love is rare, so when it happens i don't care if he has a girlfriend... it's probably very selfish from me but u can't command your feelings... , if we had dated each other, it would have been his decision, i didn''t force him to do it, so he would have been responsible for his actions... i would have prefered he is single but he wasn't...
Plus, most of the guys i know don't think dating another girl during summer vacations is cheating .... i know, it's a very strange idea of fidelity

once, i even met a real jerk who wanted to sleep with me when his girlfriend was sleeping in a room near where we were!!!!! I was something like 16 and he was something like 23, he was a friend we (with other friends) partied with sometimes ... he was with his girlfriend for a long time, lived with her, it was as if they were married... it was really disgusting because, in our mind, he was like a big brother.. in a way that at this time, he seemed really old to me and we told him personnal stuffs etc... anyway, for his last night, he didn't want to sleep... the other finally went to bed.... i don't like to sleep early and he was nice, so, i wanted to stay with him.... and u know what he told me???? "it would do a good memory of my vacations" ! what an asshole! I'm not a postcard!

But this spanish guy was a great person... i'm happy to know him...

That "well, not who wanted to sleep with me" bit's pretty funny. Can't say I've actually met punk jerks like that, although I've always kept my social circle rather small, so scum like that tend to get weeded out before I get to know them well enough to realize they're like that.

karelle: yeah, I'm perfectly fine with her being bisexual. In the past, it would've been a dream of mine; having your girlfriend be into other girls can be a groovy thing for some guys. I don't really mind homosexuals at all, especially not lesbians. I've got some qualms with gay men, but that's because of experiences I've had at work with them.
(Ex: one telling me that he liked me and my indicating to him that I don't float that way, yet he continues to persist. If a guy does that to a girl, he's sexually harassing her; if a guy does that to another guy, and the other guy gets pissed, he's homophobic. WTF?)
Other than that, though, I've got a gay cousin & uncle, and I get along well with them. Their sexual preference doesn't mean anything to me. The only time it does is when a gay man wants to enforce his sexuality on me and doesn't accept my saying "no" immediately.

The pic: DAZZA posted it on the NPMB yesterday. This is what I take it to mean: the girl is symbolic of innocence and the vulture is society, the corrupt world at large, lurking nearby, waiting to devour the purity. I didn't choose it because I wanted to offend people, rather I chose it because it touched a nerve within me.

Like I said, you have to be careful around people (in general). It's kinda scary what you might say or do with someone once you really get to trust them. I think it's impossible to know someone on a high level within the time span of a few days. Someone recently claimed to me "I've known him for only a week, and we already know all about each other." That's crap.

karelle--Ahh...I like french girls. To me, there's nothing quite as enticing as a girl with either a French or Russian accent. Don't ask me why...it's just one of my weird fetishes (I have a few others). It's been a while since I've been to France. My cousins used to live there. Ofcourse, my parents had to take me on this wonderful European vacation when I was barely old enough to remember it (I was 7). I remember when I got seperated from my parents somehow while down in the metro, and I found myself running after the subway with both my parents inside. Fortunately, someone saw this and pulled the cord for the subway to stop. Then, some older french lady proceeded in cursing at my mother. Ah well...good times....*sigh*

How's everyone doing, anyway? I have a paper to write on "Madame Bovary" that's due by Thursday. Laterz.

There's this girl, we'll call her Susanna (because, well, that's her name). She is the love of my life, which doesn't really say much because I'm only seventeen and I'm not even sure if I know what love is yet, but anyway. I've loved this girl from the first time I saw her, before actually, we started talking on-line before we met (friend of a friend kind of deal). We had these great conversations, I've never talked to anyone like that, except for my best friend Erik, and it was just great. But then her best friend Sarah decided I didn't deserve her (which was true) and figured she'd try and hook Susanna up with Erik (yeah, my best friend Erik). Well Susanna said she loved me and everything, but apparently she and I had a different view of love. She started liking him, I became seriously depressed, Erik and I stopped being friends for awhile, and then we both found out she had a boyfriend.
That was the end of us (Susanna and I) for a great while, we stopped talking for about five months or so, and then she just sent me a message saying how she didn't do anything, blah blah blah, and being the moron that I am I worked things out. We started talking again and I figured I was over my feelings and we could just be friends, I was a little off in my thinking there. First time I saw her again it hit me. I will never get over this girl, it's impossible. And our relationship makes no sense to me, awhile ago she said she "had a little crush" on me, and I was just like, oh my God, that's great! But yeah, I guess that changed too. I have no chance with this girl but I still try, make sense to anyone else? I didn't think so.

Forgive any typos or grammatical mistakes, I didn't want to read through it again.

As I said, I can relate. With some girls, it seems like absence only makes the heart grow fonder, so if you think you can get over them by simply getting away from them for a while, you end up realizing the power of their hold on you when you end up seeing them again.

Duly noted, Taisu. I was actually talking to my friend Mike about this whole situation earlier this evening (he's 25 and had several relationships, including a 3-year one, so I trust his dating instincts pretty well), and he recommended that I not ask Lauren out. He said that she seems too uncertain about what she wants (he kind of indicated that that's sometimes typical of bisexuals) and that if she were to say yes and we'd end up going out, it would turn out for the worst because of her indecisiveness and my inability to detach myself emotionally from people. So I don't know quite what I'm going to do right now. We shall see at the end of tomorrow. Fun, no? I hate not knowing what the future holds.

Ya, Taisu and Rick, u really can't know someone in that short of time. Some friends of mine back home got engaged after 2 weeks of knowing each other, and have been maried for like 20 years and are still way in love, but I believe they suffered through some of the early years from that lack of knowingness. Complete or thorough knowledge of something/one involves observing its/their performance under many contexts which, as far as this realm goes, most definitely requires time.

Ya, Jum, time can kick yer butt. If you read earlier in this thread I mentioned when I found out my old girlfriend, Kelly, got engaged, my heart just about fell out of my chest.

Rick, yer friend's advice makes sense. Noone really knows what would happen in actuallity, but for an idea, that sounds logical. Sorry you have to deal with persistant guys that like you. There was this one dude in college that I said hey to, just being friendly, whenever I saw him and he started winking at me after the first few times. I was like, dude, not only does that make me feel wierd, but I was only trying to be friendly and this is what I get! So I finally stopped and talked to him in lab one time and had a brief conversation about his senior project and gave him a firm manly hand shake upon departure hoping he would realize I'm not effeminate (sp?). Not good enough, arg. I said hey to him in the hall again after that and chit chatted and I mentioned somthing about a Bible study I was going to and his charm deflated like a whoopie cushion. Guess that was the right button. Nice guy, just sorry I accidently got his hopes up

. I don't agree with homosexuality, but thats quite a lengthy discussion and I've had some great one's with some of you here already

i love this thread, even if it does make me feel like a voyer. I've got an idea Rick (it's gonna take me awhile to get used to calling you that. did you mean everyone can call you that now?) anyway, why don't you open this thread on a computer the both of you are near by and let her read it? I think you come across as endearing, and express yourself and your feelings well. Plus, girls love it when a guy says nice things about them without expecting a payoff. It's a cheesy idea, but just thought i'd throw it out.

Karelle: did you slap him? You should have. I think it's another cultural steryotype that France's notion of sex is much loser than America's, like there's guys around all over the place in France asking for sex so they can remember when it last rained. Any truth to this? I guess you don't know America's notion of sex, so you can't judge. It'sl pretty taboo over here, I think.

Taisu: same with me. French and Russian accents drive me wild. Not English accents though.

My love life sucks. Sorry, no stories from me.

j/k. Anyway, yeah, I did mean everybody could call me Rick now. The Sadistic Demon moniker doesn't really fit me well anymore, so for people to address me as that is unnerving a bit.

I gave that a thought for a few minutes the other night. I was thinking of maybe giving her the address to this board and telling her what name I post under so she could see that I'm a great guy (saying that, uhm, not entirely seriously, heh) and how I feel about her, but I'm afraid she'll see through my intentions and think I told her to check the site out merely to see what I wrote about her, then think that maybe what I wrote wasn't sincere. Also, I can't gauge how what I've written would come across to her. Maybe the talk about homo/bisexuality would piss her off and make her not want to even be my friend, and that would certainly be bad.

I think what my problem is, is that I'm trying to have my cake and eat it, too, and we all know how well that pans out.

BTW: I love British accents. OMFG, that is just absolutely delicious to me.

hm. my thoughts on the british accent: the people of the city of oxford--where i was for 6 weeks--are not very pretty people. in fact, most of them were rather homely or awkward looking. that being the case, i've come to more or less associate the accent with unattractiveness. ah well. i hear it now in random places, and all i can think about is bad teeth and disproportionate foreheads.

but the dutch! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......

i will return, one day, my darlings!!

Ahh... accents.

This friend of mine from Cypress, she has the most alluring accent. She's very cute, and I mean cute in that beautiful but so that you want to hug her kind of cute.

I really love the French accent also, although I'm a sucker for pretty much any Romantic accent. I also like the South African accent, but maybe that's because most of my friends from there were really cool (and this really hot girl named Tarryn, from SA, liked me).

I get a big kick out of the Cajun accent. This friend of my parents dad is deep cajun, and he is the funniest guy.

As for the British and offshoots, I'm not attracted by any of them (except maybe the Welsh and Irish), but I think they're cool. Especially the Scottish.

Hey fygmynt, wasn't Audrey Hepburn Dutch? I find her accent to be to die for, literally. That accent just kills me. I've only heard it once live, but whoa, I was floored.

hm. can't say that i rightly know. but i'll buy it.

it's a wonderful language...i would learn it if i had the time. i was only in amsterdam for two days, but i couldn't get enough of it. i loved the entire city, don't get me wrong, but the reintroduction of beauty to my world--in form and voice--was one of the most enjoyable aspects. the percentage of really attractive people to not-so-attractive people there has only been matched by the town i'm in right now, good ol' athens, georgia.

Karelle, you could possibly send me an hour long recording of you speaking in English, and on the other side, in French? I don't care what you talk about. Mwehehe. It'll go to good use on lonely Friday nights. I'll sit and read my good ol' Calvin and Hobbes while listening to a French girl speak. I had a Russian accompanist once (Svetlana Rodionova...great name, too!). Even though she's married and like 40 something, I just loved her voice and accent. *sigh*...I want a girl who has a soft Russian or French accent
