The reason Natalie is not as prolific as some actresses is that she has been going to school full time. Natalie and her family have put her education first, rather than her acting career first. She does acting projects in her time away from college. But this hasn't seemed to hurt her career, as directors and folks seem to change their schedules just to work with her. Even though she is low-profile and not Oscar-nominated, she still gets juicy roles with top film-makers over other top actresses.

In the BlackBook interview Natalie said she is probably going into acting as a career. She wants to take it seriously and do a good job. I think the critics and cynics should give her a chance now that she wants to be a more dedicated actress.

Natalie got noticed in that role because it was risky and because she showed amazing talent and strength in her first movie which was a starring role (plus, she looked really good).

I disagree that LEON was suggestive of pedophilia. Although Matilda had a crush on Leon, the relationship was non-sexual and the adult never took advantge of the child, or put the child in a creepy sexual situation. It was like a loving father-daughter, hero-kid, buddy movie relationship.

Kate Winslet does nudity frequently and has earned three Oscar nominations before age 30, which is a rare feat. It hasn't hurt her at all.

Just as many actresses have gotten Oscar nominations (and even won Oscars) yet have not done nudity. Anyway, the reasons Natalie has given for not doing nudity had nothing to do with whether or not it would hurt her career. She said she was against the sexual exploitation of young people in films. Her parents also wanted to protect her in her personal life from sexual predators and horny guys.

Do you remember when Natalie did Anywhere But Here and refused to do the love scene? She got a Golden Globe nomination for that but got snubbed at the Oscars.If she had done the love scene the Oscars would have recognized her.

I don't agree with this at all, Steven Printz. Plenty of women who take their clothes off on film never work again. It is also true that some get nominated and win Oscars. It is just as true that some who take their clothes off get snubbed for oscars. People get nominated for Golden Globes all the time and don't get an Oscar nomination. Many deserving actors are over-looked.

Natalie and nudity:

All this complaining about Natalie not doing nudity is needless, because she has said she would now consider doing nudity or a meaningful sex scene on film. She said it in the NYLON interview last summer. So maybe she will do nudity. Like I said already: Too bad Natalie had to drop out of the Merchant-Ivory film, Le Divorce. Her character would have been in sexual situations -- perhaps there would have been some R rated nudity. Guess we will have to watch Kate Hudson instead of Natalie.

Keira would have done it (love scene, nudity). Watch out for Keira because here she comes.

I guess we'll wait and see. Seems that Austrialian actors are hot right now, so this is a good time for Keira to break out. If she's willing to get naked I'm sure she can be in tons of movies. I don't know if it would be good for her career or not. Hopefully she will just get some good roles in good movies.

Natalie Portman said she would now consider doing nudity and sexual scenes. I don't think keeping her clothes on has hurt her career. The past is past. Maybe Natalie will do something racier in her future acting projects now that she is nearing age 21 -- perhaps she will star in a revival of HAIR.
